The American Alliance of Museums (AAM) seeks an entrepreneurial meetings professional who has successfully developed, managed, and delivered educational programming for adult learners through engaging experiences designed to share knowledge and expertise. Bring your enthusiasm for museums and apply your strong customer service focus, excellent planning and executing skills towards helping our team produce AAM’s Annual Meeting & MuseumExpo, the largest 3-day convening of museum professionals in the world.
About the position:
The Conference Education Manager develops, designs and delivers conference education at AAM’s events, conferences, and meetings. Working with the Director, Meetings and Events, the Manager determines submission guidelines, oversees the session proposal process, integrates adult learning principles, and develops related communication plans and materials.
Additionally, the Conference Education Manager works closely with the National Program Committee (NPC), which is responsible for the review of over 400 proposals and selection of approximately 150 sessions. This includes coordinating the work of the committee, managing on-site logistics and arrangements for thefall NPC Reviewer meeting; developing an understanding of museum field issues and staying informed on emerging trends in the field. Salary is low $60s.
Skills and qualifications:
The successful candidate possesses strong experience with adult learning principles and technologies; experience working with speakers and volunteers with disabilities; proficiency with CadmiumCD or other speaker management systems; Microsoft Office and various database and social media platforms; ability to multi-task and effectively manage multiple projects, priorities and deadlines; and ability to travel approximately 10% of the time.
