Meetings and Events Coordinator


The Higher Learning Commission (HLC) seeks an experienced, positive, detail-oriented individual to fill the position of Meetings and Events Coordinator. The Meetings and Events Coordinator will plan, organize and execute events and meetings under the general supervision of the Director of Meetings and Events. The Coordinator will lead the planning and logistical support for workshops, hearings and other HLC events. The Coordinator will assist with the annual conference and participate as an active member of the conference team. Responsibilities include independent planning, project management, logistical coordination and execution of assigned events and meetings. The Coordinator will support the implementation of effective management tracking systems for the annual conference and other HLC programs and events.


Qualifications:

Candidates should have a bachelor’s degree, and CMP certification is preferred. Applicants should have five years of work experience in meeting and events planning, including  experience supporting trade shows and events. Candidates should be proficient with meeting planning technology and have experience negotiating contracts. Project management experience is desirable.


A significant portion of the work involves communication with office teams and institutions; hence, excellent communication skills are critical. Candidates must be strong team players, able to work independently and within a larger team equally well. Candidates should be able to be flexible with work assignments and comfortable with small projects and changes in day-to-day work.
