To solicit accounts to convene meetings, conventions and tradeshows in Dallas. Coordinate meeting activities with hotels, other Dallas convention facilities, and VisitDallas member suppliers. The employee works closely with the local hospitality industry and hotel partners to contract and coordinate conventions and ensure efficient meeting arrangements for the attendees. Additionally, conducts research to identify potential clients; prepares and presents bids for meetings and conventions; coordinating promotional materials; attends all industry related conventions and tradeshows to generate leads and increase exposure. Developing and maintaining professional relationships are critical, therefore, it is imperative that this position play an active role in industry organizations and events in specific market segment. Responsible for initiating frequent contact with decision makers for conventions, conferences and trade shows. This position will function within the boundaries as set by the Sales division leadership.
A. This position will primarily focus on developing, soliciting acquiring in-house meetings in the Association, Corporate and 3rd Party markets in the Midwest territory
B. In conjunction with VisitDallas sales leadership, develop and execute a sales and marketing strategy that when successfully implemented will accomplish sales performance goals
C. Understanding competitive set competition and changing market trends that affect our business
D. Attend and participate in sales meetings, training programs and other required meetings held in Dallas
E. Maintain complete documentation within the CRM system and conform to all sales administration practices and policies
F. To represent VisitDallas at all regional industry organizations events/meetings (ASAE, IAEE and Chicago CVB Reps, PCMA, MPI, Association Forum) and attend other national industry meetings/events/tradeshows as determined by leadership
G. Participate and present at various local, national, and Midwest trade shows, making meeting planners aware of our continual interest in hosting their groups’ meetings
H. To volunteer and serve on local/regional industry organizations Boards, Committees, etc.
I. Undertake special projects as assigned by the VisitDallas sales leadership
J. Function as a liaison with the Dallas hotel community and their Midwest sales offices in a strategic and collaborative capacity
K. Function as a liaison with VisitDallas Convention Services Team, the Experience Department, VisitDallas Member Suppliers, and the Midwest based clients to ensure that all meetings receive the best service possible.
L. Attend and coordinate with other VisitDallas team members FAM trips to Dallas for Midwest area customers
M. Will be responsible for helping schedule site visit appointments in the Midwest market in regard to meetings with the Dallas hotels sales representatives and the Dallas based VisitDallas sales representatives
N. Coordinate and execute sales blitzes in the Midwest area
O. Effectively manage the individual budget guidelines and submit accurate and timely pre-expense approval forms, cash and VISA expense reports, and consistently maintain an accurate individual budget worksheet.PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE/EDUCATIONEducation-• College Degree (Equivalent Education Level) – Bachelor’s Degree
Experience-• Minimum of five years of proven, successful hospitality industry sales experience in a major convention facility, convention hotel or VisitDallas.• Active in local/regional industry organizations
