Senior Meetings Manager

The Association for Psychological Science (APS), a growing, DC-based scientific organization, seeks an eager, highly motivated individual for a Senior Meetings Manager position. (The Meetings Team is also seeking a Project Manager, Meetings; please see details on that position at the end of this post.)

About the Position

The Meetings Department oversees the annual convention (4,300+ attendees) and a biannual international convention (2,300+ attendees). We are looking for an experienced meeting planner who is eager to help shape a growing meetings department and build on an existing professional meetings-based skillset. The ideal candidate should be poised and mature, comfortable with meeting multiple deadlines, and able to problem-solve proactively while maintaining a keen eye for detail and organization.

 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

 

·         Working with a volunteer committee on the content and organization of the program

·         Coordinating with speakers throughout the year and onsite

·         Managing meeting logistics and scheduling

·         Developing and managing meeting budgets

·         Collaborating on marketing campaigns

·         Overseeing the setup and running of the submission system for programs

·         Overseeing the registration system

·         Coordinating various printed materials and products

·         Overseeing production of online and printed programs and mobile app

·         Managing smaller committee meetings throughout the year, both in the office and in other locations

 

Requirements:

 

·         Bachelor’s degree

·         Minimum of 5 years of experience in meeting planning

·         Excellent written and spoken communication skills

·         Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage time effectively

·         Excellent interpersonal, problem resolution, and teamwork skills

·         Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook and Access; Photoshop a plus)

·         Experience with project management software a plus

·         Experience organizing scientific meetings a plus
