Position Overview

The Strategic Business Development Director is a savvy business and marketing professional that is a big thinker and outcome focused. In particular, the SBDD is skilled at developing new business opportunities and helping clients grow their business through the PCMA Platform. The SBDD is thoroughly familiar with market conditions and successful at designing plans using multi-channel solutions including digital and social platforms, print solutions, experiential marketing, event activations, targeted campaigns, and custom offerings. This dynamic, solution-focused individual will concentrate on growing the market, developing new business, and opening new business categories and diversifying revenue sources (endemic and non-endemic). Core focus will be development of business opportunities (sponsorships and media assets) for clients based on an understanding of the impact of business events on commerce, communities, and industries.

This position is a base + commission position with excellent benefits, healthcare, and 401K plan.

Key Accountabilities

  • Develop strategic, outcome-focused programs and offerings for current and prospective clients.
  • Develop strategies to grow market size and market share within assigned territory or account base.
  • Diversify and ensure a healthy mix of revenue sources, prospecting new client categories both in the near-endemic and non-endemic market. Focusing on sponsorship and media assets (digital and print)
  • Utilize Salesforce CRM to develop pipeline, manage opportunities and sales cycles, log prospect meetings/calls and follow-up, and overall client management.
  • Achieve overall market goals, monthly targets, and product sales based on annual performance plan within schedule/deadline.
  • Maintain four new opportunities per week and four new pieces of business closed per month.
  • Utilize marketing materials and marketing strategies collaborating with internal teams to bring offerings to the marketplace.
  • Develop travel and client engagement plans to best serve and grow your business on annual basis.
  • Work with Account Management team members to help develop and grow client relationships, ensure fulfillment of sold deliverables, and conduct annual business review for top-level clients.
  • Coordinate sales efforts with team members and other departments.
  • Seek opportunities to develop knowledge and relevant skills necessary to keep abreast of industry, market conditions, and best practices and trends to help grow our business and clients’ business.
  • Continuously improve one-self through feedback of supervisor, peers, and client need.


Requirements

  • BS/BA degree plus demonstrated work experience
  • Proven work history in business, business development, or marketing
  • Strong, demonstrated digital acumen
  • Experience demonstrating strategic conversations, consultative sales with ability to frame and sell the “why” not the “what;” this is not a product sales position
  • Highly motivated and driven with a proven record growing business
  • Critical thinking skills
  • Excellent communication and follow-up
  • Ability to create and deliver presentations tailored to the client’s needs
  • Skillful at negotiating with ability to uncover new business opportunities and convert new business
  • Relationship management skills and openness to feedback
  • Prioritizing, time management and organization skills
  • Experience with Salesforce or similar CRM and pipeline
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Demonstrate knowledge of marketplace and credit worthiness of companies we’re doing business with. Sales team may be required to assist in collecting payment for clients severely delinquent.
  • This position requires flexibility in work hours to accommodate client and organizational needs, time zones, etc. Some weekends, evenings, early mornings, and travel will be expected.

 PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS

  • Ability to perform work utilizing a computer for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time in performing the work.
  • Ability to walk for extended periods of time in performing the work.
  • Ability to pull or push objects of varying weights in performing the work.
  • Ability to grasp objects utilizing the fingers (fine motor manipulation).
  • Ability to travel by air or ground transportation as required in performing the work.
