Summary: The Director of Strategy & Project Implementation is a key leadership role responsible for the strategic oversight of ISMRM's technological infrastructure, web presence, and related IT services. This position focuses on managing and optimizing all IT and web platforms, including the association management system (AMS), to ensure a seamless member experience, operational efficiency, and data security. The director will lead vendor relationships, drive technology strategy, and collaborate with internal teams to deliver innovative and reliable solutions that support the organization's mission. This is a full-time, in-office position located in Concord, CA. Success in this position is achieved by performing the following duties.

IT & Web Strategy
- Develop and implement a cohesive IT and web strategy that aligns with ISMRM's mission and strategic goals.
- Oversee the integration and optimization of all web platforms to ensure a seamless and high-quality user experience for members and stakeholders.
Vendor Management
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all IT and web vendors, including those managing CRM systems, web development, hosting, and cybersecurity.
- Negotiate contracts, manage vendor relationships, and evaluate performance to ensure service-level agreements (SLAs) are met.
- Oversee the selection of new vendors, ensuring alignment with organizational needs and budgets.
- Collaborate with vendors to implement updates, troubleshoot issues, and enhance services.
Operational & Systems Oversight
- With knowledge of overall IT budget, forecasting technology expenses, and making cost-effective decisions.
- Manage day-to-day IT operations, including system administration, data management, and security.
- Supervise website functionality and performance, ensuring minimal downtime, and that all digital platforms comply with web accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG).
- Serve as the system administrator for AMS, learning management system (LMS), and customer relationship management (CRM) platforms, configuring access, managing permissions, and overseeing day-to-day functionality.
- Proactively monitor systems for performance issues and lead resolution efforts in partnership with vendors.
- Conduct regular audits to identify and resolve issues with data syncs, integrations, and platform performance.
- Maintain and enforce user access and security protocols in alignment with data protection standards.
- Identify and escalate any potential data security concerns and work with vendors to ensure system patching and vulnerability resolution.
Team Collaboration & Support
- Partner with internal stakeholders to identify technology needs and implement solutions.
- Identify opportunities to leverage new technologies like AI and automation to streamline operations and enhance member experience.
- Provide training and support to staff and members on the use of IT systems and web platforms.
- Act as a liaison between end users and technology vendors to translate functional needs into technical solutions.
- Deliver system walkthroughs and internal documentation to ensure consistent and accurate use across departments.
- Support team at annual meetings including international travel twice a year: Annual Meeting Program Committee (AMPC) Meeting: a 4-day meeting held in January; Annual Meeting: typically held in the spring (April/May/June) for about 8 days (including travel and setup).
- Directly supervise and mange 1-2 IT department staff members, providing leadership and guidance, while delegating appropriate tasks and responsibilities.
Data Governance & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with data privacy regulations and cybersecurity standards.
- Develop and implement protocols to protect the organization’s digital assets. Oversee programs and resources to help staff and members guard against cyberattacks.
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive IT disaster recovery plan in support of business continuity plans.
- Uphold best practices in data governance, privacy protocols, and audit documentation across platforms.
- Design and maintain dynamic dashboards and reports for internal use, executive summaries, and member-facing metrics.

Requirements

Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, or a related field.
- 7-10 years’ experience in IT and web management, including vendor management.
- Experience working with membership-based organizations or nonprofits is a plus.
Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of IT infrastructure, web development technologies, and cybersecurity best practices.
- General Intermediate working knowledge of Structured Query Language (SQL)
- Proficiency with content management systems (CMS), customer relationship management (CRM) platforms, learning management systems (LMS), and data analytics tools.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Business Acumen: Understands business implications of decisions—particularly in non-profit operations; seeks to understand how other scientific and professional associations operate in order to bring fresh ideas, aligns work with strategic goals.
